State of Motherhood

Thomas TaataDaniella Aug 2024

The Office of Mother/maama/mamuska is the most overworked office in the family especially when you consider the rise of single mothers. A supportive wife is worth her weight in gold; what Muslims call 'Riziki' (fountain of blessing).

Mama

Memorable Mama is...
+ Head: mother's wisdom
+ Heart: mother's wishes
+ Hands: mother's works
+ Heels: mother's walk
+ House: mother's wall
mother

However you become a mother: either by accident or by choice, by rape or by love,by surprise or by preparation; you are faced with two decisions - let the baby live or terminate the unwanted pregnancy.

Whatever your lot is in life, it is of great significance that you treat your role as mummy or mother-figure (nanny, grandma, auntie) with care. For the elephants, the alpha female is a matriarch that leads the herd as they navigate the savannah grassland.

An ideal mother has five facets...

  1. Head: a mother's wisdom percolates directly into a child especially in the early years.
  2. Heart: a mother's wishes for her child are usually pure.
  3. Hands: a mother works hard to shape her child into a responsible citizen.
  4. Heels: a mother walks miles in search of food and sustenance for her children.
  5. House: a mother's love is a wall that keeps badness out and goodness in.
